Technologist & Product Manager

Rutvik Bhatt is a Technologist, Engineer turned product leader, and expert in product management practices who’s been hard at work for over 10 years. Having done product in multiple global markets, Rutvik has experience and insights that are rare to find in the global market. He’s helped shape the discipline of product management, built self-functional and self-sustainable team, helping product to grow in various domains. His work is focused on helping grow the next generation of product leadership, and helping bring a global perspective to product management practices everywhere.

Rutvik has a very unique blend of technical mindset and product leadership. His very data driven decision making process made sure that each product makes it mark on the global leaderboards. His work experience varies from a tech architectural background to leadership and strategy.

Rutvik started his career as a Software developer learning and developing multiple products for different global markets, satisfying different needs. His strong observational power helped him climbed the ladder up quickly to lead the team of application developers using architectural paradigms.

His unique skillset in technical expertise, and eagerness to learn more led him to manage the Full stack team of more than 28 Engineers working and developing solutions for North America, UK and Europe, APAC and US. He did not kill his eagerness to learn new technologies and architectural patterns as soon as he jumped into the people management, instead he kept learning and played active role at various stages of the tech, including Software architectures, Application communication protocols, cloud management, DevOps and Computing.

He realised very soon at work that developing applications are not enough, its also important to manage the business expectations and gained experience by managing development teams using Agile and kept experimenting various project management methodologies.

He understood the power of Cloud computing and race to develop faster and scalable applications to increase the user experience and meet the demand, he developed his interest in DevOps, managing highly scalable and efficient cloud architectures, plugged in with Continuous Integration with codebase and continuously delivering them to the user, with out a single human interaction.

All of these experiences moulded him to become a better product manager who actually understands what works and what not, by his own tried & tested methods. His great sense of understanding human behavioural patterns for applications and analytical, data-driven mindset helped him to ship habit building applications very quick and in a efficient manner.

Professional Experience

  • 2022 — Present

    Engineering Manager at Delivery Hero

    • Defining the strategic direction of the team and contributing to the technical strategy for the entire Foodpanda, Foodora, Netpincer, and Dáme jídlo consumer products
    • Guiding and coaching an exceptional team of engineers, mentoring them in technical and non-technical aspects, and leading them to build stable, scalable, and reliable features and services
    • Help team members to shape their individual careers and grow the team to become more self-organized, more agile, and more autonomous
    • Establishing and growing best Engineering Practices with the team (e.g. TDD, CI/CD, Agile Methodologies, etc.) in order to improve the engagement of your team, the speed of delivery, and the quality of the features and services owned.
    • In close collaboration with the team’s product manager, I lead projects, manage stakeholder expectations and dependencies, do continuous prioritization, alignment, and cost management
    • Play an active role in evolving our overall architecture, especially for systems and products owned by the team
    • Contribute to scaling different processes of the organization, such as engineering hiring and onboarding

    Team Lead at Taboola

    • Managing Taboola mobile products Line up
    • Managing Taboola Android SDK, iOS SDK, Recommendations API, MRAID, React-Native and Flutter plugin
    • Led the ideation, technical development, and launch of innovative products
    • Played active role in product innovation

    • Defined and implemented new processes across the APAC team
    • Developed solutions and customization along with the implementation team
    • Worked to support the company mission and adhered to company protocol at all times.

  • 2017 — 2018

    Team Lead - Full Stack at Simform Solutions

    • Expanded team from 0 headcount to 28 full stack developers who are working in React, Vue, Angular, Node.JS, Python and React Native
    • Designed Project architecture and help team to design on themselves
    • Motivated team to learn, build and grow and brought a few developers out of their comfort zones to achieve more
    • Reduced the project delivery time by 12% over the year by defining and applying the best practices
    • Developed 24 small projects with in the team which can be used as PnP in any project
    • Handled 8 Projects simultaneously at one point of time and delivered all of them on time
    • Made sure that I code at least 4 hours and hence inspired team members to write and design code base

  • 2016 — 2017

    Team Lead - Full Stack at Moveo Apps

    • Handled Full stack Development team of 20 engineers working on Mobile Apps, Hybrid Apps and Web application using React Native, iOS, Android, Node.JS, React, Angular and Python.
    • Designed Architectures for 35 Applications and delivered them successfully
    • Brought a unique blend of leadership and management skills applied in a technical context with a team of developers
    • Steered a team towards a common technical vision, writing code at least 30% of the time

  • 2014 — 2016

    Product Manager at Creanara

    • Guided the success of a product and leading the cross-functional team that is responsible for improving it
    • Worked with Cross functional Team in Business and technical to decide why, when and what of the products
    • Took part in product innovation from deciding strategy, deriving idea and maintaining and implementing features
    • Automated Alpha, Beta and GA releases for products and features using various channels after automated test processes using CI/CD

  • 2011 — 2014

    Software Engineer at Insapient Info

    • Developed software applications using mobile and web technologies, wrote test cases, implemented CI/CD
    • Planned and deliver features, used to write average 3400 lines of code daily
